Most travellers come to Goa and taste the bread. But what if you could make it?

What if you could shape a slice of Goan life with your own two hands and take the story home with you?

Life of Pao isn’t your typical cultural tour. It’s a rare, immersive Goan bread-making experience where you’ll roll up your sleeves inside a rustic bakery in Majorda, a village believed to be the birthplace of Goan Pao.

You’ll knead, shape, and bake Poi, a beloved local version of Goan Pao, inside a crackling wood-fired oven, just like generations of Goan bakers before you. Along the way, you’ll learn how to tell one bread from another, Poi, Katre Pao, and Undo, and why each Goan has their personal favourite.

Some are best with spicy gravies, others with morning chai. Don’t forget to ask your baker or host what their bread of choice is; you might just discover a new pairing, a new story, or a new memory to take home. And yes, you’ll get your hands dirty (and your camera full). Once your bread is baked, the trail continues to a charming café, where you’ll craft your own panini using fresh, flavourful ingredients, a unique fusion of traditional Goan Pao and Italian creativity. From the scent of firewood to the first bite of your handmade sandwich, this bread-making trail in Goa is packed with flavour, memory, and meaning. If you’re looking for something real, something you can do, not just this is your trail.
