The Goan Cashew Experience
8:00 AM
9 Hours
Discover Goa’s cashew culture in Valpoi with farm visits, distillery experience, cashew stomping, and Neero Urrak Feni tasting with an authentic Goan lunch!
Hidden in the lush green heart of Valpoi is a side of Goa that many travellers rarely get to experience. Far away from the beaches and crowds, this is where stories of tradition, community, and craft quietly come alive through something as simple yet extraordinary as the cashew.
This trail is not just about seeing but truly experiencing. We begin with a peaceful visit to the sacred Brahma Karmali Temple, soaking in the calm before stepping into the vibrant world of Goa’s cashew culture. As we move deeper into the countryside, you will meet locals who have been keeping these traditions alive for generations.
At the distillery, things get hands-on. You will walk through farms, pick up fallen cashew apples, and learn how the fruit and nut are separated. Then comes one of the most fun parts, stomping cashew apples the traditional way, just like it has been done for years. It is messy, interactive, and something you will not forget anytime soon.
As the day unfolds, you will taste fresh Neero, followed by Urrak and Feni, while understanding how each stage of fermentation and distillation shapes their flavour. The journey continues through a cashew nursery and into a working factory, where you will see how the humble cashew transforms into the snack we all love.
With a wholesome Goan meal set in the greenery of Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, this experience slows you down and connects you to the land, its people, and their stories.
This is Goa in its purest form, unhurried, rooted, and deeply flavourful.
